Description
When a terrible famine struck William Kamkwamba's tiny village in Malawi, his family lost all of the season's crops, leaving them with nothing to eat or sell. The family could hardly find money for food, let alone school fees. Forced to drop out of high school, William began to explore the science books in his village library. There, he came up with an idea that would change his family's life forever: He could build a windmill. Made out of junkyard scraps and old bicycle parts, William's amazing creation would bring electricity to his home. It would help his family pump the water they needed to farm the land. And it would turn this ordinary African teenager into a hero known in his town and all around the world as the boy who harnessed the wind.
